Working with a vision of “delivering excellence in all everything we do”, the post holder will be based within Adult Critical Care/ CCOT and will be expected to work flexibly across campuses as required.
The post holder will be a proactive role model who provides comprehensive leadership on the provision of clinical education and assessment of competence in Adult Critical Care and CCOT.
The role will entail working with key stakeholders across the organisation and wider health care community to ensure that best practice; educational standards, appropriate curriculum development and relevant teaching techniques are in place.
Clinical
1. To lead the development of all Adult Critical Care and CCOT staff, and foster empowerment through knowledge to achieve excellence through the delivery of evidenced based nursing practice.
2. To oversee the coordination and orientation of new staff / starters to the organisation and Adult Critical Care/ CCOT.
3. To promote reflective practice, clinical supervision and experiential learning opportunities developing a learning culture in the clinical environment.
4. Demonstrate the use of evidence based specialist skills and practice in the care of critically ill ward based patients.
5. Support staff rotating through Adult Critical Care and CCOT – including staff from Maternity and ED.
Managerial
1. To ensure the delivery of care is in accordance with the policies, procedures, guidelines and practices of Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.
2. To manage the Educators to ensure individuals’ personal and development needs are met.
3. To ensure that continuing professional development is provided for all staff, including students and elective placements, so that the required level of knowledge and competence is maintained / achieved.
4. To ensure the Education team maintain the mandatory training database.

The Critical Care service at the Queens Medical Centre Campus encompasses 29 Level 3 beds on Adult Intensive Care and 20 Level 2 beds on High Dependency. Critical Care at the City Campus consists of a combined unit with 17 beds.
