The role Reporting to the Installation Director the primary focus of the role is lead and manage the Commissioning and Technical Specialist engineering team within the installation department. This is a key role to drive quality and consistency in the delivery of installations from start through to close, with primary focus on delivering and programming systems to the functional requirements set out at the point of sale. This is a technical role, and it is expected that the individual not only manages the commissioning engineering team but also takes the lead in the field programming and supporting the final stages of installations. What you will do Management Responsible for functionally developing, managing, and delivering the means and methods of the commissioning execution strategy, schedule, and cost. Lead and/or direct all commissioning activity for a project including the lead staff position responsible for and directing all commissioning activities at the site. Coordinate with project managers, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure all commissioning activities are integrated into the overall project timeline. Ensure all commissioning resources are being utilised in a cost-effective manner. Enhance the capability of the commissioning team to support key product portfolio on a national scale, via training, audits, and reviews. Prepare and present regular commissioning status updates and reports to the Installation Director and other Senior Management. Lead commissioning meetings and facilitate effective communication among project stakeholders to ensure alignment on commissioning objectives and progress. Responsibility to support and own the delivery of installation KPIs. Ensuring jobs are delivered on time and on budget. Conduct 1-2-1 reviews and annual performance and talent with team members as required recording details within the LMS platform. Technical Commissioning Responsibility for ensuring the commissioning and engineer teams are able to commission on multiple systems with at least 2 specialist in each discipline aligned to the regional installation structure. Provide mentorship and guidance to commissioning team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development. Ensure that your own and team members’ vendor accreditations are maintained to ensure that all the company’s core products can be supported. Individually and ensure Commissioning Engineers: Interfacing with various stakeholders including the installation Managers. Programme Managers, Project Managers, Field engineering, to provide subject-matter expert advice and leadership regarding commissioning and start-up. Provide 3 rd Line Technical Support to the installation department (and service where applicable). Responsible to commission and start-up on all major and or complex systems, in a controlled sequence and to the project specifications. Maintaining installation standards and quality in the field, identify errors/faults, and provide guidance on rectification where possible provide one over one field training. Identify and resolve any issues or challenges that arise during the commissioning process, implementing corrective actions as necessary. Prepare systems for final inspection and hand over to Operations Team after commissioning procedures are complete. Support system handover and client acceptance. Report to the installation owner (Project Manager, Installation Manager) on issues regarding commissioning, startup schedule and progress. Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to ensure a smooth transition from commissioning to full operational status. Design Support Direct or assist in developing Project Manpower Estimates and System Commissioning Schedules for proposals and Support where possible site surveys and site installation meetings. Working Practices, Process and Continuous Improvement Responsible for driving commissioning philosophy, schedule, and procedures. Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to address potential commissioning risks. Drive commissioning teams to achieve site audits on jobs where no commissioning resource has been assigned to. Regular contact with product supply technical support Observe the highest level of Health and Safety and act in accordance with regulations at all times. Promote a safe working environment by ensuring compliance with Health and Safety procedures, identifying areas of risk, and reporting any faults. What you will need Technical experience working on high end integrated security systems managing working under high pressured environments across all major disciplines, CCTV, Access, Intruder, and preferably Fire, with a selection of vendor accredited certifications. Management of multi disciplined teams Proactive response to all situations; ability to work alone and think on your feet. Proven track record of delivering excellent customer service. At least 8 years’ experience in installing security products. A strong commercial focus to ensure projects are delivered on budget, on time and to agreed quality standards. Experience of project delivery and planning to anticipate future requirements and to mitigate risks. Sound knowledge of IP technology & networks Problem solving complex electronic security installations.
