About the role
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Site Engineer to join our dynamic team at Net Zero Teesside, a landmark project that is driving the transition to a low-carbon future. This is a unique opportunity to be part of an ambitious, large-scale initiative that will play a critical role in reducing emissions and advancing sustainable energy solutions. As a Site Engineer, you will collaborate closely with the Site Agent and other key stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of civil engineering works on-site. You will have the chance to showcase your expertise in managing complex construction activities, ensuring efficiency, safety, and quality at every stage of the project. Your role will be pivotal in supporting the seamless execution of critical infrastructure that will support the UK's journey towards Net Zero. This is a challenging and rewarding position for individuals passionate about making a tangible impact on the future of energy and the built environment.
What you'll be doing
1.
o Prepare RAMS & ITPs : Develop and review comprehensive Risk Assessments, Method Statements (RAMS), and Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) for various civil engineering activities.
o Safety Support : Actively assist in managing safety on-site by conducting safety briefings, toolbox talks, and promoting best safety practices. Identify hazards and suggest corrective actions to maintain a safe working environment for all personnel.
o Quality Control Supervision : Oversee quality control processes and site inspections, ensuring that all work meets the project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. Document any deviations and take corrective actions.
o Weekly Reporting : Prepare and present detailed weekly progress reports to the Site Agent, covering key aspects such as programme adherence, material usage, plant requirements, and potential issues affecting project delivery.
o Material & Equipment Management : Assist in managing the procurement, tracking, and logistical coordination of materials, plant, and equipment, ensuring timely availability and effective use to meet the project needs.
o Construction Planning & Programming : Collaborate with the Site Agent to plan, schedule, and program activities effectively, adjusting timelines and resources as necessary to ensure project milestones are achieved.
o Coordinate Drawings & Specifications : Review project drawings and specifications regularly, ensuring they are accurate and complete. Proactively request any missing details and resolve discrepancies to avoid delays.
o Setting Out Verification : Conduct and document accurate setting out of works, allowing sufficient time for independent checks to ensure precision and compliance with all technical specifications.
o Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) : Ensure that all inspections and tests are carried out as per ITPs, documenting results and managing non-conformances promptly.
o Documentation : Ensure that all verbal instructions and site communications from clients are formally documented/traceable.
Engineering & Planning Competencies
o Milestones & Deadlines : Understand the project’s milestones and priorities, and work diligently to meet strict deadlines.
o Program Management : Develop short-term section programmes that are realistic and monitor progress against the overall contract schedule, ensuring timely delivery.
o Knowledge of Resources & Outputs : Maintain resource requirements and outputs, ensuring efficient utilisation of resources.
Client & Communication
o Represent the best interests of the project and stakeholders in dealings with clients, suppliers, and the workforce, maintaining a positive and professional rapport.
o Facilitate clear and effective communication.
o Set Out the Works : Ensure accurate setting out of works, verifying that all activities align with the construction plans and maintaining precise benchmarks.
Who we're looking for
Personal Qualities & Experience
* Qualifications : Civil Engineering qualification at HNC/Degree level (or equivalent), with practical, hands-on experience in the field.
* CSCS Card : Hold a valid CSCS card at the required grade after completing the Managers and Professionals HS&E test.
* SSSTS/IOSH : Certification in SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme) or IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health).
* Experience :
o Proven experience in reinforced concrete construction, particularly in complex or highly regulated environments, such as nuclear or energy sectors.
o In-depth knowledge of construction safety procedures, environmental guidelines, and temporary works.
o Ability to interpret, understand, and implement construction drawings and specifications accurately.
* BIM Knowledge : Familiarity with Building Information Modelling (BIM) and its application to construction projects is advantageous.
