An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior band 6 Occupational therapist to join an established Stroke and Neuro Community team in North Lincolnshire, linking in to the wider stroke pathway, assessing individuals in their own homes and in bedded units, agreeing goals and devising plans with them to then provide appropriate rehabilitation and equipment to support. Where the successful applicant does not meet all essential criteria this post may be offered as band 5-6 developmental opportunity.
Main duties of the job
* Undertake comprehensive assessment of patients including those with diverse or complex presentations or multiple pathologies; use advanced clinical reasoning skills, including the assessment of cognitive and perceptual impairment, interpreting these assessments and providing appropriate recommendations, considering appropriateness of equipment or recommendations for referral for major adaptation as well as the ongoing rehabilitation provided.
* Assess and manage clinical risk within own and delegated patients.
* Assess patient understanding of proposals; gain valid informed consent and work within a legal framework with patients who lack capacity to consent.
* Represent the Therapy service and/or individual patients at MDT meetings to ensure the delivery of a co-ordinated multidisciplinary service.
* Work as a lone practitioner with telephone support from a senior Occupational Therapist if required.
* Be responsible for maintaining accurate, comprehensive patient treatment records in line with COT Standards of Practice and to comply with COT Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct and national and local policies and procedures.
* To be aware of Trust policies and statutory requirements such as Health and Safety, Equal Opportunities, COSHH, Fire Safety, Complaints and Incident Reporting.

Education and Qualifications
Essential criteria
* Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
* State Registered.
* Access to transport and the ability to travel within the required geographical area.
* Experience and awareness of stroke and neuro rehabilitation.
Desirable criteria
* BAOT membership.
* Relevant accredited clinical courses.
* Worked in neuro in prior role.
Occupational Experience
Essential criteria
* Evidence of a range of CPD activities.
* Evidence of experience of the DFG process.
* Experience of team working.
* Evidence of range of clinical experience in the 18 months post qualification.
Desirable criteria
* Evidence of ability to work 1:1 and in group settings.
* Experience of supervision of colleagues/students.
