An exciting opportunity of Deputy Head Gardener has become available as the current Deputy has been promoted to Head Gardener.
The garden comprises 1 00 acres of formal and informal borders, meadows, an arboretum.The garden includes the Temple and Folly w ater gardens, a 100m longdouble herbaceous border ,two rose gardens, a spring garden, stream, a woodland garden, private gardens, as well as aglasshouse and kitchen garden.The gardens open season typically runs from March through to October.
The Deputy Head Gardener will assist the Head Gardener in theupkeep of the gardensand wider a reas of the estate. The garden team comprises of 4 full time staff and volunteers. The successful candidate should have excellent communication skills as well asproven hands-on experience and knowledge .Responsibilities will include supervising the staff, contractors and volunteers in the Head Gardeners absence. Ideally hold ahorticultural qualification such as an RHS level 3practical with practical experience in horticultural techniques.Experience of working in a historic garden open to the public would be an advantage.
Applicantsmust hold a full UK driving licence .Excellent plant knowledgeand a genuine passion for horticulture are essential, as are a keen eye for detail, a good level of physical fitness and happy to work in all weather conditions. A good understanding and ability to use of a wide range of specialist equipment and machinery is an advantage.
