Education World are looking for Learning Support Assistants across Newcastle on a long term basis to work within a secondary school environment in the Gosforth area. As part of the SEND team, you will work directly with children with additional needs, creating a supportive atmosphere for them to develop and grow effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Work with students (aged between 11 to 16) 1:1 as well as in small groups.
2. Support students to overcome any barriers to learning associated with SEMH needs.
3. Help students understand instructions/work under supervision of the class teacher.
4. Collaborate with the SENDCo to ensure each student is having their needs met in line with Education Health Care plans (EHC) and/or Individual Learning plans (ILP).
5. Managing challenging pupil behaviour at times.
Qualifications and Experience:
1. Relevant experience working with additional needs (could be lived in experience).
2. Proven ability to be resourceful when needed.
3. A true commitment to student development.
4. Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
5. Adherence to safeguarding policies and procedures.
This position will start as a temporary ongoing role but has the possibility of becoming permanent for the right person.
