The Chief Executive Officer will be responsible for the overall management, strategic direction, and performance of LAS, ensuring that the Trust delivers safe, efficient, and compassionate care while maintaining financial and operational sustainability. This is an opportunity to lead a complex, fast-paced, and high-profile organisation, driving transformation in how urgent and emergency care is delivered in one of the most demanding healthcare environments in the world.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an experienced and visionary leader with a strong track record of executive-level leadership in a complex healthcare or public sector organisation. The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience in driving service transformation and operational excellence, ideally in urgent and emergency care, acute services, or integrated health systems. They will be a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of financial stewardship, performance management, and regulatory compliance within the NHS or a similarly complex organisation. With a strong commitment to staff well-being, inclusion, and organisational culture, the new Chief Executive will ensure LAS remains an employer of choice, fostering an environment where people feel supported, empowered, and inspired to provide exceptional patient care.

Experience Essential
* Significant board level leadership experience gained within a complex health or social care environment within an organisation of significant size and geographical spread; capable of providing strategic direction in a changing environment.
* Experience of playing a leadership role across systems, an understanding of 'systems by default' and the mechanism for success, enabling sustainable and successful health and care economies which improve population health.
* Evidence of successful partnership working, collaboration and system thinking, maximising opportunities for organisational development and sustainability.
* Proven track record of working and engaging effectively across complex social demographics, disparate communities and diverse populations.
* Significant experience of managing complex quality improvement, innovation and transformational change programmes.
* Proven track record of delivering a high level of performance and quality improvements in a rapidly changing environment.
* Experience of shaping an open, inclusive and compassionate organisation through setting the right tone at the top, championing diversity and inclusion at, and across, all levels.
* Experience of successfully championing clinical leadership within and across organisations.
