Position Summary:
Reporting to the Assistant Network Lead, the Gas Trainee Operative will assist the Main Layer in carrying out tasks and activities necessary to ensure great quality of service provided within the gas distribution network.
Gas Trainee Operative Fitter Responsibilities:
• Carry out work on the network as instructed by the Network Officer, including but not limited to:
• Mains Replacement
• New Service Installations
• District Governor Maintenance
• Dial before you dig
• Mains surveying
• Service disconnections
• General duties as the business may require in other functions
• Assist the Main Layer in the Company’s response in dealing with PRE’s
• Assist with tasks on the gas distribution network as directed by the Network Officer
• Assist on routine and non-routine maintenance work on gas distribution network and associated equipment as directed and scheduled by the Network Officer
• Assist in providing technical expertise in the resolution of hazards
• Assist in the collection and reporting of operational data associated with the gas distribution network
• Work with the team on the solution of hazards and events and investigate and control of leakage on the gas distribution network
• Ensure tasks are carried out with minimal disruption to customers and in an efficient manner
• Work in conjunction with contractors
• On site liaison with the public and external agencies
• Participate on the emergency call out duty rota on a 1 week in every 4 throughout the year (As specific by location/business need)
