R&D Tax - Tax Advisor – London, Edinburgh or Manchester
Would you like the opportunity to work in our Global Grants Credits & Incentives team helping clients file R&D tax claims?
EY’s Global Grants Credits & Incentives team is a specialist team made up of engineers and IT specialists as well as tax and accounting professionals. Our team supports companies in filing R&D tax credit claims and applying for cash grants which were introduced by the government to encourage UK companies to invest in innovation.
In Manchester, we are looking for a Tax Advisor specialising in R&D tax who is either qualified or part qualified and working towards ACA/CA/ACCA/ATT/CTA; or Tax Inspectors with full Technical Training Course.
Serving a variety of high-profile clients (FTSE 100 and 250 multinational companies to fast-growing tech start-ups), you will be required to work closely with senior and lead engineers of our clients and will be responsible for analysing tax and costing aspects of their R&D projects. You will play an active role in developing reports of clients’ projects and taking part in extensive client communication.
Your key responsibilities:
* To contribute to the efficient and successful delivery of R&D tax services to the client.
* Build and maintain tax relationships with clients and provide high levels of client service.
* Build relationships both within the firm and externally with clients, identifying opportunities and managing expectations.
* Contribute to winning new work by proactively managing existing clients and contributing to winning new clients.
* Assist with the successful delivery of tax projects, ensuring technical excellence and practical/business driven approach taken.
Skill and attributes for success:
* Corporate or R&D tax experience.
* Proven ability to read and interpret existing and new tax statute.
* Team player; ability to integrate with new teams quickly.
* Outgoing with good relationship skills and the ability to deliver quality output.
* Strong technical skills and keen to develop further.
* Ability to identify areas of risk, carry out an effective review and know when to refer upwards.
* Relationship management skills with ability to manage client expectations.
* Ability to build effective relationships at all levels.
* Ability to solve problems creatively and pragmatically.
To qualify for the role you must have:
* Either fully qualified or part qualified and working towards ACA/CA/ACCA/ATT/CTA; or Tax Inspectors with full Technical Training Course.
* Strong Excel capability including use of VLOOKUP and IF functions and pivot tables, including manipulating large and complex datasets.
