About the Role
Maria Mallaband are proud to expand our Senior Leadership Team as we are looking to recruit a Director of Clinical Governance. In this role you will lead a small team to support the organisation in attaining agreed standards of quality, safety and effectiveness while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and learning. We are looking for a candidate based within commutable distance of Leeds who is happy to be office based and able to support our 80+ Care Homes to reach the required standards.
Due to the nature of this role we are only able to accept applications from candidates with rights to work in the UK and a Valid NMC Pin with no restrictions on practice.
Key Responsibilities:
1. For leading and overseeing the improvement and monitoring of a comprehensive clinical governance framework. This framework should align with the pillars of clinical governance including: education and training, clinical audit, clinical effectiveness, colleague management, risk management, and information management.
2. Provide leadership in strategic planning for MMCG with comprehensive risk, safety, governance and compliance plans to enhance the well-being and quality of care provided.
3. Lead on the Resident Safety Risk agenda implementing a Risk Management Framework across the organisation to ensure the effective identification and mitigation of risk. Ensuring the governance assurance framework has evolved and is fully understood across the business.
4. Direct the efforts of improvement initiatives to ensure overall compliance with all applicable regulatory standards and policy; will advise and act as a subject matter expert on matters related to resident safety, compliance and governance.
5. Collaborate with teams across the organisation to support the integration of clinical governance and best practice in risk management.
6. Work with quality and information management teams to develop a resident safety and quality suite of metrics that can be embedded throughout the organisation.
7. Required to work closely with the Chief Risk and Compliance Officer to ensure delivery of the agreed governance systems and overall compliance with all applicable regulatory standards and policy.
8. Build strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure MMCG are compliant in line with our regulatory obligations, company values and core purpose.
9. Work with Quality and L&D to develop a training needs analysis based upon resident safety, themes and trends from incidents, litigation and complaints.
10. Co-ordinate the production of reports for assurance committees.
11. Support the evaluation of the clinical governance framework through clinical audit and data analysis to assess clinical effectiveness.
12. Lead 'Deep Dive' exercises to understand the extent of any potential challenges and initiate remedial actions.
13. Lead the investigation process of serious incidents in accordance with the Accident/Incident Reporting, Management and Investigation Policy.
14. Deputise for the Chief Risk and Compliance Officer as directed.
Qualifications
Essential
1. Current professional registration with NMC/HCPC Enhanced knowledge of management and leadership competencies and models through specific accredited qualifications.
2. Educated to a master's degree level in a relevant topic area or clear demonstrable equivalent experience. Evidence of a formal risk management qualification or have demonstrable experience in leading Risk Management in a care setting.
3. Highly developed specialist knowledge of risk management. Extensive knowledge of clinical governance and risk frameworks. Comprehensive understanding of clinical risk with the ability to exercise independent and professional judgement across a range of risk areas. Able to demonstrate strategic thinking and develop/formulate long term strategic plans. Able to communicate effectively with staff at all levels and professions across the organisation. Ability to prepare comprehensive, fit for purpose and audience specific reports, briefing papers and presentations to agreed timescales. Ability to prepare and deliver training and presentations on risk management to colleagues at all levels.
4. A proven track record of Risk Management and Clinical Governance delivery at a senior level in a large care organisation. Demonstrable experience in leading the implementation of the incident management policy. Demonstrate excellent planning and organisational skills and the professionalism to make adjustments if targets are not met. Demonstrate credibility in working with and influencing senior colleagues.
