We have an exciting opportunity within our nursing team at Pride Veterinary Referrals for a compassionate, confident RVN to join us in a combined role, covering Workflow Coordinator and Referral Theatre nursing.
Discover a world of opportunity at Pride Veterinary Referrals
This combined role offers an opportunity to work in a hybrid role as Hospital Workflow Coordinator, as well as in our Referral Theatre team.
Workflow Coordinator (1+ days per week):
Our Workflow Coordinator will be instrumental in the effective and efficient running of the clinical floor across all referral disciplines in the hospital, which will include Anaesthesia, Cardiology, Diagnostic Imaging, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Oncology, Ophthalmology and Orthopaedics & Soft Tissue Surgery.
The Workflow Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the clinical floor runs effectively and efficiently by taking a central role in planning the day’s referral procedures, and leading the teams to complete their individual workflows as scheduled. Due to the dynamic nature of referral and emergency work, the workflows of each department will be subject to change, and this will require decisive action and the reallocation of resources. You will not be required to undertake clinical work as standard, but you must be able to demonstrate a high level of clinical knowledge.
Theatre Nurse (up to 3 days per week):
Working within a group of skilled and passionate anaesthetists and nurses, you will regularly work closely with specialist referral clinicians from a range of disciplines such as surgery, medicine, ophthalmology and neurology. On a day-to-day basis, we interact fully with the anaesthetists, providing anaesthesia and sedation for other services. Despite working within such a big team, we succeed in maintaining a friendly and supportive ethic. We are passionate about providing a gold standard of care.
You will see a varied caseload of routine and emergency cases from the soft tissue, orthopaedic, neurology and ophthalmology services. You will carry out a mixture of anaesthesia and theatre work and play an integral part in ensuring the department runs efficiently. You will be supported by our experienced and knowledgeable nurses and anaesthetists to allow you to develop your referral nursing skills.
We are committed to providing outstanding development opportunities to our RVNs, and we will always encourage and support our team in pursuing further qualifications.
Join a hospital equipped with the newest technologies
Pride Veterinary Referrals is a modern veterinary hospital with spacious wards, 5 theatres and an extensive imaging suite. It is equipped with the newest technologies to diagnose, treat and provide post-operative care for patients whilst they are recovering. There are discipline specific consult rooms which allow for extensive examination of pets, with a separate referral waiting area for clients, which is both light and spacious for their comfort. The imaging suite houses CT, MRI, ultrasound, fluoroscopy and flat panel digital x-ray. The suite leads into the theatres which are spacious, and modern with a separate scrub and gowning area.
ICU has a dedicated team of experienced nursing staff overseeing patient care, with separate dog and cat areas. ICU is manned 24/7 with high dependency patients having a dedicated nurse with them at all times. The separate dogs and cat wards (including a number of large dog walk-in wards) are temperature controlled with ambient lighting at night, with an outside toileting area that is set away from public areas. There is also an isolation ward for contagious patients. We also house an exotics consult room and ward, which allows for both day and overnight patients with its own exotics vet and nursing team headed up by an exotics specialist. Finally for the rehabilitation of surgical and neurological patients, there is a rehabilitation suite, housing hydrotherapy pool, hydrotherapy treadmill and extensive physiotherapy equipment.
