We are looking for a responsible adult who is trained to support a child (legally under the age of 18 years) or vulnerable adults during engagement with the police, health workers, and social workers.
Applicant must have a good command of English.
Applicant must have a listening skill.
Applicant must have oral and written communication proficiency.
Applicant must be able to provide a detailed report during the interview process.
Responsibilities:
Attend police or age assessment interviews to provide support and ensure the individual understands the process.
Clearly explain the individual’s rights, including the right to legal representation.
Help facilitate communication between the individual and law enforcement officers, ensuring questions and responses are understood.
Provide emotional support and reassurance to the individual throughout the process.
Observe and monitor the individual’s welfare, ensuring they are not distressed or overwhelmed.
Step in if the individual is not being treated fairly or has any concerns about their well-being.
Maintain an impartial stance, focusing solely on the welfare and rights of the individual.
Keep detailed records of the interactions and interviews attended, noting any concerns or incidents.
Submit reports to relevant authorities as required, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Engage in ongoing training and professional development to stay updated with best practices and legal changes.
