Job Description
Mō te tūnga | About the role
The Policy Manager is responsible for leading and managing the Council’s policy function and providing leadership to the Policy Team to achieve the levels of service set out in the Long-Term Plan (LTP). The role is to foster a positive team environment where team members are empowered to succeed, achieve results and are committed to personal and professional growth.
The Policy Manager leads and grows a team of 6 direct reports by providing vision and purpose, setting expectations and work programmes that are aligned with the Taranaki Regional Council’s strategic directions.

We like to set people up for success so you’ll be a leading applicant if you have the following background and experience:
1. A post-graduate qualification in Resource Management planning or a field that is relevant.
2. At least 10 years’ experience in Resource Management planning or related experience.
3. Experience leading a team, coaching and managing work programmes, performance and setting expectations.
4. Strategic thinking and communication skillset.
5. Ability to develop and maintain a rapport and relationships between local iwi/hapū and Council.

The starting remuneration range for this role is $138,397 - $162,820 per annum (including KiwiSaver).
