This role is located in Sciantec, within the Cawood Scientific Agriculture Division. Job Description
1. Proactively managing the workload, including helping with other work as and when required.
2. Have a good understanding of aseptic technique and good lab practice required within the lab, helping to maintain standards by noticing and reporting issues to the Team Leader or Section Manager.
3. Possess in-depth knowledge and understanding of some methods, able to help develop methods and carry out pre-planned method validation work when required.
4. Be involved in the training and guidance of staff where applicable.
5. Be able to carry out routine and non-routine maintenance where applicable.
6. Contribute towards problem solving.
7. Conduct the Salmonella method from start to finish, including confirmation of positive results.
8. Conduct confirmations for other bacteria.
9. Communicate with all co-workers in a professional manner regarding discrepancies/queries, ensuring emails are addressed and dealt with promptly or within a reasonable timescale.
10. Sort samples and ensure they correspond with the relevant paperwork.
11. Correctly report all samples into LIMS.
12. Prepare dry culture media in line with our Standard Operating Procedures.
13. Understand and follow the Standard Operating Procedures provided.
14. Maintain Cawood credibility by always portraying a positive image by keeping equipment and PPE clean.
15. Respect company equipment, ensuring to use them as per guidelines and report any damage to management as soon as possible.
16. Work as a team, maintaining morale and actively offering help and assistance wherever possible.
17. Keep safety at the forefront of lab work and be proactive in ensuring accidents and near misses are reported straightaway to Managers in line with our company accreditation and policy.
18. Assist with on-site training of new employees, providing proactive support to ensure their onboarding into the company is friendly, engaging, and inspiring.
19. Use the following instrumentation, after successful training: balances, incubators, autoclaves, preparators, dilumats, and pipettes.
20. Complete training to be a Fire Marshall, First Aider, or Internal Auditor as required.
