Salary: Up to £36,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.
Contract type: This is a 12 month FTC/attachment covering parental leave. Starting early December 2024.
Location: Office Base is Salford. This is a hybrid role and the successful candidate will balance office working with home working.

Job Introduction

BBC Bitesize is looking for an Assistant Producer to help deliver online learning resources for the Bitesize Curriculum team. This role is parental leave cover and will initially be based in the Bitesize Secondary team, although the successful candidate may be assigned to work on other key stages during the course of the contract.
Main Responsibilities
As an AP you will be leading on the development and delivery of large suites of online formal learning content.
You will work with your peers and with a team of Researchers to deliver new online content and content improvements. These may include video, short-form, interactives and quizzes, commissioning, writing and infographics.
You will work with subject matter experts to develop a strong understanding of the needs of children studying each subject and be adept at working with audiences to iteratively develop and user-test editorial formats.
You may also work collaboratively with other teams in BBC Chilldren’s and Education and across the BBC to deliver excellent educational experiences in partnership.

Digital content making skills
4. Practical experience of interactive production and development, delivering digital content projects which include several interdependent elements, such as long-form text, video, interactives and infographics.
5. Editorial skills and experience
6. Experience of creating digital content which meets tightly defined criteria or outcomes.
7. Experience of working accurately with long-form written content and short form video.
8. Excellent editorial judgement and experience of applying editorial guidelines in practice to a variety of content formats, including text and visual content such as video, interactives or interactives.
Project management
9. Knowledge of project management methodologies and experience of planning and delivering interactive projects with multiple elements, to budget.
Working with suppliers
10. Experience working with independent producers to deliver short form video, or interactive content, within BBC guidelines
11. Creative and audience focus
12. Understanding of the 5-16 audience, their diversity and their media habits.
13. Proven experience of using audience insight to inform digital content making.
Working with teams
14. Experience of breaking down projects into tasks and overseeing the delivery of those tasks (including monitoring quality) by other members of the team.
15. Experience of working collaboratively to deliver projects, including maintaining positive relationships within the team and with other internal and external teams.
