We are looking for a result-driven, innovative, and creative Assistant Manufacturing Manager to join our team. The primary focus is to maintain the current control platforms, assist in project conceptual designs, detail engineering, procurement, installation, and commissioning. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Support Manufacturing Manager in pursuing business objectives in terms of output, quality, and cost.
2. Maintain and improve productivity to meet production schedules and customer needs.
3. Ensure all health and safety requirements are adhered to at all times, including completion of departmental risk assessments, near miss reports, accident reports, etc.
4. Ensure that agreed customer delivery times are achieved and that customers receive a high standard of service.
5. Schedule resources within your team to meet production requirements and prioritize to achieve the plan.
6. Identify, develop, and implement continuous improvement activities with your team.
Key Areas
Delivery performance
1. Achievement/adherence of production plans to give 100% performance to customer.
2. Initiate actions to prevent/minimize failure.
3. Ensure performance measurement systems are employed.
Quality
1. Take actions to eliminate customer returns.
2. Ensure adherence to quality procedures.
3. Maintain, achieve & improve quality standards.
4. Ensure new/modified parts are introduced successfully.
Scrap control
1. Ensure that accurate data is collected.
2. Take immediate actions to minimize non-conformance.
3. Analyze and interpret data to identify improvement actions to reduce scrap levels.
Safety
1. Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and legislation.
2. Ensure safe working practices are employed.
3. Carry out health and safety audits/risk assessments and complete near miss & accident reports.
4. Take necessary actions to improve safety performance.
5. Address any environmental issues.
People
1. Agree team performance criteria and measures to meet business objectives.
2. Ensure people & resources are matched to meet customer requirements.
3. Establish and maintain standards of discipline (e.g. absence, lateness, etc).
4. Provide guidance, direction, and support.
5. Identify and complete training and development needs to achieve goals and improve skill base.
6. Maintain training information (e.g. matrices).
7. Help maintain good industrial relations and welfare.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
1. Experience of leading/supervising a team is desirable.
2. Knowledge of machining, programming, and inspection would be advantageous.
3. Experience/ability of planning resources within a manufacturing department.
4. Mathematical skills equivalent to GCSE level.
5. Financial awareness - understanding of operating costs within a department.
6. PC literate - Microsoft Office, particularly Excel - ability to produce statistical graphs.
7. Experience of data collection and producing reports for management information.
8. Good communication skills both verbal and written.
Working Hours:
Monday to Thursday 8am to 4pm
Friday - 8am to 4pm
