This is an exciting opportunity to join our large and busy team as a Static Band 6 Physiotherapist in Orthopaedics to cover maternity leave for 12 months.
Part of this role will include working in our brand new Bristol Surgical Center due to open in spring 2025. Opportunities will also include working with our major trauma patients and gaining skills in working with patients from our burns and plastics ward.
Responsibilities
* Providing a physiotherapy service to the elective and trauma orthopaedic wards
* Working effectively with all team members within the physiotherapy service, NBT and outside agencies to provide information about physiotherapy treatment.
* Communicate effectively with patients and carers to progress treatment programmes, provide reassurance and facilitate their care.
* Will take an active part in our weekend rota
* Supervise and mentor junior members of the team
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Knowledge
Theoretical knowledge in Anatomy and Physiology, Movement, Biomechanics, and Pathologies.
Theoretical knowledge of plastics and orthopaedic conditions including trauma and elective surgery.
Experience
A wide range of postgraduate experience across MSK out-patients and acute orthopaedic wards.
Experience in supervision/mentoring.
Skills
To perform physiotherapeutic examination and assessment and treatment of patients with diverse orthopaedic presentations, physical and psychological conditions to provide a clinical diagnosis and to develop and deliver treatment plans.

Qualification
* Degree / diploma
* HCPC registered physiotherapist
* Orthopaedic related course
Experience
* Experience of elective orthopaedic surgery in an NHS setting
* Experience of Orthopaedic trauma patients in an NHS setting
* Experience working in an acute NHS hospital setting with discharge pathways
* Experience of supervision of students
* Variety of Band 5 Rotations including neuro, MSK, and respiratory
* Experience of Plastic Surgery
* Student educator or Mentor Training
Team and service development
* Evidence of service development
* Evidence of working in MDT
* Evidence of leadership
CPD
* Evidence of MSK CPD and its application
Skills
* Communication - demonstrate ability to hold difficult conversations (pt, carer, MDT)
* Supervision of others
