Vehicle Test Technician

We are recruiting for a Vehicle Test Technician for one of our automotive clients based in Cranfield. You will be working for a globally recognised automotive company. This is a long-term contract role that may run for several years.
Key Responsibilities of the Vehicle Test Technician:
1. Assemble/dis-assemble parts, components, or vehicles for static & dynamic test activities.
2. Maintenance of Test Vehicle Fleet to include safety check, retrofit, fault finding, repair.
3. Camouflaging of confidential vehicles in accordance with procedures (Training provided).
4. Delivery/collection of competitor vehicles from dealers.
5. Liaise with Test/Design engineers to conduct tests to client Standards & local operating procedures.
6. Instrumentation set-up.
7. Assist with facility management inclusive of maintenance, facility calibration, risk assessment, and training.
8. Learn bespoke client systems required to fulfil role.
9. Preparation/building/maintenance of vehicles or components for test in line with local procedures and client Engineering Manuals.
10. Support Testing in static and dynamic conditions to gather accurate, timely, and quality test data/results.
11. Support Evaluation and concern identification including liaison with Test Engineer.
12. Support delivery of Key Performance Indicators for the section.
13. Use skills to provide support to other sections as required.
Qualifications & Experience for the Vehicle Test Technician:
1. Ideally C&G / BTEC L3 in mechanical or automotive engineering with a recognised apprenticeship.
2. Fundamental understanding of vehicle dis-assembly, assembly, & maintenance techniques.
3. Vehicle system knowledge with the ability to fault find.
4. Experience within vehicle or component test environments is preferred but not essential.
5. Understanding of basic component measurement techniques preferred but not essential.
6. FLT licence preferred but not essential.
7. Basic Machining / Welding / Fabrication preferred but not essential.
8. Trailer towing/breakdown experience preferred but not essential.
9. Basic Computer literacy (word processing).
10. Fully proficient in the fundamental practical mechanical / Electrical skills required for this role.
11. Ability to work safely and to comply with legal and company safety policies.
12. A working knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
13. Excellent organisational skills.
14. Strong attention to detail.
15. Be able to work independently to manage and prioritise their own workload.
Hours & Pay for the Vehicle Test Technician:
1. Monday to Friday.
2. 39 hours per week.
3. £18.01p/h.
