The position is also client-facing at an Account Director level on campaign, policy and strategic communications projects relating to justice and international human rights. Working on a flexible schedule, the role involves mitigating risk, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, and contributing to the overall legal strategy of the business. The Legal Director will be a seasoned legal professional seeking a reduced hours commitment while maintaining a high-impact role. Key Responsibilities: Legal Advisory Provide clear, practical, and business-oriented legal advice to management and teams across the organization. Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents. Assist with dispute resolution and provide guidance on risk mitigation. Represent the organization in legal proceedings, negotiations, or settlements. Compliance Ensure the organisation complies with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards. Monitor changes in legislation and advise on implications for the business. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable laws, including corporate, employment, intellectual property, and data protection (ICO registration). Corporate Governance Support senior leadership in governance and regulatory compliance. Assist in resolutions and other governance-related documentation. Manage legal aspects of corporate transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, or restructuring. Risk Management Identify potential legal risks and provide proactive solutions to minimize exposure. Develop and implement policies to address legal risks and ensure compliance. Other Duties: Support HR / Ops team in all employment law matters re. staff contracts, investigations and disputes. Manage UK Visa portal for the company Provide training to staff on compliance e.g. anti-corruption, GDPR, intellectual property etc. Review and approve company insurance Contribute to new business through drafting bids & attending pitches for work Qualifications and Experience: A qualified solicitor or barrister with a valid practicing certificate (or equivalent legal qualification in the relevant jurisdiction). Previous in-house legal counsel experience preferred but not essential. Exposure to media / communications / technology industries are an advantage. Skills and Competencies: Strong knowledge of corporate, commercial, data protection, and employment law. Ability to draft, review, and negotiate complex legal documents. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex legal concepts in a clear and concise manner. Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills. Ability to make sound decisions under time pressure and to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a part-time capacity. Discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive information.
