Overview of the role:
The successful candidate will join a highly focussed and passionate team leading the delivery of electronic/software engineering across the business.
The role is within the Group E&C team which has responsibility to deliver and maintain JCB machine Electrical and Electronic products according to JCB standards and programme timing. The role requires technical knowledge, hands-on experience, project delivery process understanding, and the ability to work with diverse teams to ensure delivery.
Your Responsibilities:
1. Develop software for high performance displays using Qt (C++/QML)
2. Support the improvement of processes and standards around embedded development.
3. Investigate future platforms for new technologies and ideas.
4. Lead and mentor a team of software developers.
5. Liaise with a multi-disciplinary team to understand the requirements for each project.
6. Selection of correct hardware/software platform(s) to deliver the technical solution, considering performance, environmental and cost targets.
7. Work in line with industry standard development techniques i.e., V Model and software development processes.
8. Consider the implications of writing/modelling software related to the delivery of functional safety solutions and security (cyber/digital resilience).
9. Drive re-use of components and approaches.
Qualifications and Experience:
1. Qualified to Degree level in an electronic/software-based technology discipline or equivalent experience.
2. Experience within Tier 1 or OE sectors (on highway or off highway) within system engineering or software development.
3. Experience in C/C++ programming.
4. Experience of project delivery.
5. Knowledge of different communication protocols (CAN/Ethernet).
6. Working knowledge of software development techniques (V Model and functional safety).
7. Awareness of security impact to achieve secure and resilient systems (hardware and software).
8. Comfortable supporting and completing cause and effect analysis – Risk Assessments, FMEA, 8D.
