Job summary Applications are invited for the post of a Consultant General Paediatrician at Somerset Foundation Trust - Yeovil Site. We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated colleague to join our established team. Further subspecialty interests to complement those of the department would be welcomed. There are currently 10 programmed activities available for this post. This is a permanent position which offers possibilities for individual applicants subspecialty interests to compliment the department (diabetes, oncology, allergy are particularly welcomed but all interests considered including leadership experience/development interest). The successful candidate will join an existing team of six Consultants and one Associate Specialist on a 1:7 rota with on call. This will increase imminently to a 1:8 rota dependent on successful candidates. Active workforce review is continuing to work towards the RCPCH national 'Facing the Future' standards of a 1:10 acute rota. Main duties of the job The post supports and develops General Paediatrics services in South Somerset and is based at Yeovil District Hospital. The appointee will work within the Paediatric department contributing to General Paediatric service delivery. There is an opportunity in developing a special interest in Oncology, Diabetes, Endocrinology and Safeguarding. There are active opportunities for a focus of clinical service development between both Yeovil and Musgrove Park acute sites together with the senior leadership team.
