Our client, an Oil & Gas operator, is currently recruiting for a Tax Compliance & Provisioning Accountant. Based in Aberdeen, the role is on a permanent basis and offers hybrid working.
ROLE
UK Tax Compliance and UK Tax Provisioning.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Preparation of Corporation Tax returns and computations for the company.
2. Preparation of all necessary data, examination of technical issues, computation of tax liability using specialist software.
3. Filing Corporation Tax Returns with HMRC, assisting in addressing questions from HMRC, ultimately ensuring that liability is agreed.
4. Researching/legislative checking of selected tax technical matters relevant to tax return responsibilities.
5. Preparing tax provisioning for inclusion in the statutory accounts of the Corporate UK legal entities in the UK.
6. Preparing the UK group relief and UK corporate interest restriction position of the group.
7. Examination of technical issues and analysis of tax legislation to determine the appropriate presentation of specific transactions.
8. Preparation of Petroleum Revenue Tax returns for PRT Fields and assistance with all associated PRT compliance.
9. Assisting with Tax compliance as required.
10. Assistance with UK statutory tax provisions.
11. Working with and supporting other members of the wider UK tax team.
12. Preparation of Energy Profits Levy calculations for compliance and UK statutory reporting.
13. Supporting across the wider tax function as required.
14. Any other reasonable duty as per instruction by your Manager.
15. Assisting with Tax advisory as required.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Experience in a relevant corporate or accountancy firm environment or working in the oil and gas industry.
2. Strong accounting skillset with an understanding of complex accounting.
3. Tax practitioner or strong background in accounting with a willingness to learn taxation.
4. Professional taxation or accounting qualification, ACA, ACCA, CIMA, AAT or ATT (or working towards).
5. Degree qualified (preferably Accounting, Finance, Law - desired but not essential).
6. Upstream Corporation Tax and PRT experience (desired but not essential).
7. Strong analytical ability.
8. Attention to detail and a desire for precision.
9. Highly numerate.
10. Effective communication skills.
11. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
12. Knowledge of UK Upstream tax software desirable, together with knowledge of SAP (preferable but not essential).
13. Ability to learn and develop an understanding of accounting systems in order to navigate them.
14. Strong Excel skills.
15. Pro-active, driven, ability to take ownership and is a supportive and congenial team player.
16. Desire to grow and learn in a supportive fast-paced dynamic work environment.
