Technician in Carpentry & Joinery
37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year
Within the range of £22,623 to £25,668 per year
This is an exciting opportunity to work at Suffolk New College as a Technician within the Carpentry & Joinery field. You will be required to provide a range of technical advice, support and practical assistance to our staff and students. You will be responsible for preparing, maintaining the equipment and materials within the practical workspaces, alongside ensuring safe working practices.
As part of your role, you will contribute to the wider College health and safety activity and therefore you should have a good understanding of health and safety and be prepared to undertake training in these areas e.g. first aid and fire marshall.
You will need to have an organised and methodical approach to ensure the smooth operations of the workspaces in order to support the delivery of an exceptional student experience. You will be able to communicate and engage with a range of audiences including young people and will work well both in a team and on your own initiative.
You should have a good standard of education including Maths and English at level 2 (GCSE 4/C) and a Level 2 qualification in a relevant subject. The role will involve working in the Carpentry & Joinery area and therefore a specialism in Carpentry & Joinery and the supporting practical skills is required for the role.
Suffolk New College is a multi-campus site therefore you may be required to work at and travel between campuses.
