Job overview
We are looking for an exceptional person to join our team of medical secretaries who provide a professional service and support the medical team, Nurse Specialists, and the wider department by undertaking a range of duties.
You will provide cover for medical secretaries during their absence, including telephone messages, taking minutes of meetings, and undertaking any urgent typing for the Consultants and the wider clinical team.
As part of this role, you will be using G2 to type patient letters relating to clinic appointments, discharge summaries, tests, etc., from longhand or verbal dictation to meet Trust Standards. You will also support the medical secretary team by having regular telephone contact with patients and other healthcare professionals internally and externally, and occasionally face to face.

Person specification
Qualifications
* 3 GCSEs including English at grade C or above or equivalent qualifications/experience.
* OCR II word processing (or equivalent demonstrable NHS experience as a support secretary)
* Experience of Microsoft packages
* Medical Audio Qualification
Experience
* Experience in an audio typist/secretarial role within the NHS
* Experience of dealing with the public
* Experience of medical terminology
* Experience of minute taking
* Experience of using a patient record system (Lorenzo)
Further Training
* Experience of using the medical secretarial module in Lorenzo (or other hospital system)
* Knowledge of patient record systems
* Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
