Position: SENDCO Class Teacher (Full-Time, Temporary) Location: Preston Duration: September - December (Fixed Term Contract) Schedule: 2 Days as SENDCO, 3 Days as Class Teacher Salary: Competitive, based on experience Start Date: September 2024 Axcis are seeking a dynamic and experienced SENDCO Class Teacher to join a school for the Autumn term. This full-time role is divided into 2 days dedicated to SENDCO responsibilities and 3 days as a classroom teacher. The ideal candidate will be passionate about inclusive education, have a strong understanding of SEND practices, and be able to create a positive and effective learning environment for all students. Key Responsibilities: As SENDCO (2 days per week): • Lead and manage the provision for students with SEND within the school. • Develop and implement individualised education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs. • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external agencies to support students' learning and development. • Conduct assessments and monitor the progress of students with SEND. • Provide training and support to staff on SEND best practices and inclusive teaching strategies. • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and maintain accurate records. As Class Teacher (3 days per week): • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons to meet the needs of all students. • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning and personal growth. • Assess and monitor student progress, providing timely feedback and support. • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and share effective teaching practices. • Maintain effective communication with parents and carers regarding student progress and well-being. Qualifications and Experience: • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential. • SENDCO qualification or significant experience in a SENDCO role is highly desirable. • Proven experience working with students with SEND in a primary or secondary school setting. • Strong knowledge of SEND legislation and best practices. • Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills. • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
