A Warehouse Team Manager oversees operations at a warehouse or storage facility, ensuring that all incoming and outgoing inventory is processed according to schedule. Their responsibilities include:
* Managing warehouse associates, monitoring work, and ensuring safe equipment use.
* Collaborating with executive management to set warehouse goals.
* Keeping up-to-date on safety regulations.
* Communicating with other departments and representative bodies.
* Evaluating team performance, providing feedback, and implementing training programs to improve productivity.
Key responsibilities
* Manage and monitor all aspects of warehouse performance routinely (e.g. cycle counting, stock control, dispatch, assembly picks, safety performance, service and operating costs etc.). Investigate and remedy sub-standard performance. Ensure warehouse tasks are completed in an accurate and timely fashion.
* Ensure that warehouse output is planned in accordance with business needs and maintain close liaison with production, planning, and transport teams.
* Manage, lead, and direct all staff reports and/or their teams. Develop and support the team as appropriate (e.g. motivating, delegating, performance management, coaching, appraisals, recruiting, and identifying & arranging job-related and development training).
* Maintain positive and effective working relationships within the factory organization, with other Company functions and externally with customers and suppliers.
* Maintain constructive working relationships with representative bodies (unions, works councils, safety committees etc.).
* Ensure that food hygiene and safety standards are observed at all times within the warehouse teams, and that monitoring systems (e.g. HACCP) are operated in accordance with specifications.
* Ensure that health and safety at work requirements are identified, communicated as necessary, and adhered to at all times within the warehouse.
* Assist in the preparation of budgets, capital projects, etc. Develop performance benchmarking where appropriate and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
* Identify and manage continuous improvement projects.
* Resolve any arising problems, escalating issues as required.
* Provide support for day-to-day operational requirements and issues as required.
Qualifications and skills
* Degree (or equivalent standard) preferably in an appropriate management or other relevant discipline / equivalent experience.
* Strong experience in operations/warehouse/supply chain management.
* Experience working within a food manufacturing environment.
* Knowledge of ERP systems, such as SAP, is desirable.
* PC literate including Microsoft (Excel/Word/PowerPoint) and manufacturing systems at an intermediate level.
* Strong people leader.
* Well-developed communication skills – able to present written and verbal reports that are understood by a target audience.
* Customer focused – demonstrates exceptional interpersonal skills (verbal & written).
* Current fork truck license – counterbalance & reach truck.
