Are you an experienced teaching assistant with a desire to support students with special educational needs? Are you a resilient individual that loves a challenge? Do you want to make a real difference to the lives of young people? This could be the perfect role for you!
Long-Term Teachers are working with a number of Special Educational Needs schools who are seeking to appoint support staff who can be flexible to help support staff absences. However, if you demonstrate to be an excellent addition to the team, there may be an opportunity to progress into long-term or permanent work within the school.
We are looking for teaching assistants who have previous experience working with children with additional needs, particular those who demonstrate challenging behaviour. You will be expected to work with young people who have a variety of needs such as social, emotional and mental health, autism or ADHD. Students may have experienced trauma so it is essential that you are patient and empathic.
Your daily duties would include providing classroom support to students, sometimes on a 1:1 basis dependent on need. You will help students stay focused and engaged in their learning but also, allow students time to regulate themselves if needed. You will also be responsible for supervision outside of the classroom, including break times or extracurricular activities.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and friendly individual, that is mature and mouldable to work with the needs of the school. You must have a passion for working with children in particular those with SEN.
Working hours will be Monday to Friday, term time only.
