Purpose of the Role:
The Curriculum Development Lead is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing high-quality curricula that align with institutional goals, accreditation standards, and industry needs. The role requires collaboration with faculty, subject matter experts, and stakeholders to create innovative and engaging learning experiences for students aged 9 - 16.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the design, development, and revision of curricula across various programs.
* Ensure alignment with national standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
* Ensure curriculum development aligns with Ofsted’s Quality of Education criteria, including intent, implementation, and impact.
* Collaborate with academic staff, instructional designers, and subject matter experts to create engaging course content.
* Develop frameworks, guidelines, and policies to support curriculum design and assessment.
* Integrate emerging trends, technology, and pedagogical best practices into curriculum development.
* Conduct curriculum reviews, mapping exercises, and gap analyses to enhance learning outcomes.
* Develop and implement assessment strategies to measure student progress and curriculum effectiveness.
* Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of curricula, making data-driven recommendations for improvements.
* Ensure inclusivity, diversity, and accessibility in curriculum design, including considerations for SMEH (Social, Mental, and Emotional Health), ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), and EHCP (Education, Health, and Care Plan).
* Provide training and support to faculty and staff on curriculum development processes and best practices.
* Liaise with external partners, accreditation bodies, and industry representatives to ensure curriculum relevance.
* Manage curriculum-related projects, ensuring timely delivery and compliance with quality standards.
* Oversee performance management processes for teaching staff to ensure high-quality delivery of the curriculum.
* Support teaching staff in meeting professional teaching standards and continuous professional development (CPD).
Person Specification
Essential Criteria:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Education, Curriculum Development, Instructional Design, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
Experience:
* Proven experience in curriculum design and development in an educational or training setting.
* Familiarity with accreditation processes and national educational standards.
* Experience in working with diverse stakeholders, including faculty and industry experts.
Skills & Knowledge:
* Strong understanding of curriculum development models, pedagogical theories, and learning frameworks.
* Excellent project management and organizational skills.
* Ability to analyze data and use insights for curriculum enhancement.
* Proficiency in digital learning tools and Learning Management Systems (LMS).
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
* Understanding of SMEH (Social, Mental, and Emotional Health), ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), and EHCP (Education, Health, and Care Plan) in curriculum development.
* Proficiency in Arbor MIS (Management Information System) for tracking student data and curriculum planning.
* Expertise in designing and implementing assessment frameworks to track student progress and learning outcomes.
* Knowledge of Ofsted’s Quality of Education framework and its application in curriculum planning and assessment.
* Strong understanding of performance management in education, including setting objectives, monitoring progress, and supporting staff development.
* Familiarity with professional teaching standards and strategies to support teaching excellence.
