About the role
We are seeking a Research Fellow to join the GP2 project (, focused on discovering genetic variations relevant to Parkinson’s and related conditions. This international project aims to build an open-access resource for Parkinson’s researchers, accessible through the AMP-PD/Terra/Verily platform.
As part of a large international consortium, you will contribute to the creation of new treatments. You will develop common and rare variant analyses for neurodegenerative diseases, integrate clinical and phenotype data, and annotate genetic variants. You will collaborate with clinicians and researchers while following open science best practices. The role offers opportunities to develop skills in genome-phenotype analysis, machine learning, and post-GWAS analysis.
The post is available immediately and is funded by grants awarded to Professor Morris until 31 December in the first instance.

About you
You will have a PhD in Genetics, Biology, Neuroscience, Statistics, Epidemiology, Computer Science, or a related discipline, along with experience in bioinformatics/statistical analysis, including Python, R and shell scripting.
You will be able to work independently, taking a self-directed approach, and demonstrating excellent organisational skills. The ability to collaborate effectively with a team of researchers while maintaining independent thinking is essential. A proactive approach to problem-solving and troubleshooting will be necessary as this ambitious project progresses.
This role meets the eligibility requirements for a skilled worker certificate of sponsorship or a global talent visa under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. Therefore, UCL welcomes applications from international applicants who require a visa.
What we offer
Appointment as Research Fellow is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be as Research Assistant (salary £38,- £41, per annum) with appointment as Research Fellow being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis.
