The role Are you an expert in the field of composite research? Do you have in-depth knowledge of, and extensive working experience in, the manufacture, testing, and imaging of composite materials? The Faculty of Science & Engineering is looking for a new composites Technical Expert to join the Engineering Labs & Facilities team. Reporting to the Labs & Facilities Technical Manager, you will directly support the facilities which enable the Bristol Composites Institute’s (BCI) world-leading research. You will liaise directly with key academic stakeholders to understand the BCI’s strategic directives and, working with the facility Technical Manager, deliver targeted improvements to lab infrastructure, and training to its staff and students. What will you be doing? You will: Be conversant in the latest composite research and understand what is required to compete with other world-class research institutions. Contribute expert knowledge to support the development of cutting-edge research techniques. Advise on the development of lab facilities and the procurement of equipment to meet current and future requirements. Be the first point of contact for all student projects – advising, training, and coordinating access to equipment. You should apply if You have extensive experience of working in composite research, manufacture, or other related field. You have a post-graduate qualification, ideally PhD, in the field of composite materials. You have a proven record of developing material testing techniques to meet specific research requirement.
