Are you an established technical director seeking a new challenge? Our client is looking for an experienced candidate to lead business development and manage environmental impact assessments. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys technically leading and managing water and peat management assessments and is ready to advance their career. The position offers potential for an enhanced discretionary bonus and progression to a company Director role.
Our client provides hydrology, water resources, and peat management EIA chapters for a range of nationally significant renewable energy projects, including onshore wind, solar, and transport infrastructure.
This is a key technical and business development role within a small, successful SME, working closely with the Directors to grow the business. Success in this role could lead to a bonus and a directorship.
The ideal candidate will be chartered with CIWEM, IEMA, or ICE.
While based in the Cardiff office, our client is open to remote working arrangements, especially where there are business development advantages.
Your role:
1. Manage water environmental assessments for large infrastructure projects, supporting the Project Manager with technical oversight, output review, and ensuring quality, health and safety, and contractual compliance.
2. Possess expertise in assessing impacts on hydrological features, peatland habitats, and geomorphology.
3. Develop technical capabilities in specified areas based on your experience.
4. Mentor junior staff towards chartership with CIWEM, IEMA, or ICE.
5. Line manage staff, including conducting annual reviews and setting development and performance objectives.
6. Build effective working relationships internally and externally to achieve optimal outcomes.
7. Represent the company with technical authority at senior levels.
8. Understand and influence the regulatory framework relevant to your work.
9. Manage your workload and that of your team, balancing up to 10 projects to meet quality, budget, and schedule requirements.
10. Lead projects valued up to £100k and bid for proposals of similar size.
11. Develop and execute a marketing plan to grow your sector, monitoring progress against targets linked to bonuses.
