Position: Mobile Rail Maintenance Technician
Location: Based in Stoke, Derby, Doncaster, or Rugby (with regional travel)
Salary: c£35,000 basic salary (depending on experience and qualifications)
Hours: 40 week
Shift pattern: Work a 3 shift pattern rotating days and afternoons (example of this would be 3 days on 2 days off)

Expenses: £35 paid for food and drinks allowance per night if you are staying away from home due to being on a job a bit further afield. Also, hotels accommodation provided and prebooked by the company.

PPE Provided: Hard hat, bump cap, eye protection, safety footwear, torch, ear defenders, full high-visibility gear, and respiratory protection as needed.
The role
We are looking for a mechanical engineer and are happy to look at mechanical engineers from other sectors including mechanical fitters, automotive and vehicle mechanicals, agricultural engineer, HGV engineers to cross train to deliver mechanical maintenance support for Rail Freight vehicles. Training and development will be provided for engineering competencies across mechanical and electrical disciplines. This is a mobile role requiring Midlands regional travel for planned maintenance and emergency repairs to where the trains are based. A van will be provided and you will work a shift pattern over a 40 hour week.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out scheduled maintenance on locomotives and rolling stock at major depots.
* Conduct mechanical and electrical repairs and testing procedures.
* Ensure the trains meet operational safety and performance standards.
* Adhere to all safety, health, environmental, and quality (SHEQ) policies.
* Complete and maintain documentation on the computer system.
* Maintain a clean and safe working environment at all times.
Essential
* NVQ Level 3 in a relevant engineering discipline.
* Full UK Driving Licence.
* Ability to work shifts, including some nights and occasional weekends (typically 1 in 3 weekends).
* Comfortable with regional travel (up to 2 hours) for emergency call-outs.
