Serco is contracted to provide Total Facilities Management to the Defence Academy of the UK (DA). This prestigious establishment is responsible for post-graduate education and most of the command, staff, leadership, Defence management, acquisition, and technology training for members of the UK Armed Forces and MOD Civil Servants. Serco supports the DA as the MOD's primary link with UK universities and international military educational institutions.
Serco has an exciting new role as an MT Lead Driver. You will undertake daily driving duties, vehicle cleaning, and associated tasks on the DACI contract. To be fully conversant and compliant with all UK Road Traffic, Serco Group, and MOD Transport Regulation, Policy, and Instructions. The post-holder is to provide an efficient and safe standard of driving whilst using Company or customer supplied vehicles, as well as driving a private vehicle for business purposes. Ensuring drivers are appropriately briefed for daily tasking while maintaining ADR kits and vehicle hanger safety.
Main Accountabilities:
* To drive Company or customer supplied vehicles in accordance with UK Road Traffic Regulations and The Highway Code.
* The Post Holder is to always remain compliant with MOD Road Transport Regulations when using customer supplied vehicles, including any vehicle telematics specific instructions.
* Serco Group Policy must also be adhered to when using Company vehicles.
* The Post Holder must ensure they are legally entitled to drive the vehicle type they intend to drive and be in possession of a valid and in-date UK Driving Licence.
* If transporting ADR materials, you are to ensure full compliance with ADR regulations.
* Conduct all driving tasks in a legal, safe, and proficient manner by exercising due care and attention.
* Manage & conduct all vehicle cleaning tasks to a high standard and in a safe and proficient manner.
* Be conversant and compliant with all SHEF procedures relevant to the role, or any role you are asked to cover.
* Manage & conduct before and after use checks of your allocated MOD vehicle, or any other vehicle as directed by MT Office, in accordance with FMT 118 Vehicle Checks.
* Report all vehicle related accidents that you are involved in or are witness to, to your Line Manager.
What you'll need to do the role:
* Full Category B UK driving licence 3+ years.
* Good general knowledge of Road Traffic regulations and The Highway Code.
* Good written and verbal communication skills.
* Previous driver/chauffeur experience.
* PC literate, with experience in MS Outlook.
* High level attention to detail/accuracy and concentration.
* Current ADR qualification with a minimum of explosives. (Desirable as training may be given)
* Current lift-truck qualification with a minimum of 4000kg counter-balance. (Desirable as training may be given)

MoD Security Clearance. Due to the nature of the organisation, all employees of Serco are required to be security cleared to SC level.
