We have an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled individual to join the College's Engineering team as a Tutor/Assessor, working under the guidance and direction of lecturers.
Salary Details: Tutor Scale: £28,308 - £30,652 BAR £31,650 - £35,166 per annum
Assessor Scale: £31,650 - £35,166 BAR £36,347 - £39,765 per annum
These scales have progression to each point on an annual basis with the opportunity to further progress on to an extended scale following the BAR. Commencing salaries will be assessed in accordance with the College's starting salaries matrix.
Hours of Work: Tutor role - 0.6 FTE (equivalent to 22 hours per week)
Assessor role - 0.4 FTE (equivalent to 15 hours per week)
It is preferred that one candidate will undertake both roles on a full-time basis. However, consideration may be given to those interested in either role.
Contract Type: Salaried - Permanent
Holiday Entitlement: 28 days pro rata (increasing to 32 days for 5 years + service) plus Standard Bank Holidays & College closure days per annum.
Qualifications:
* You will hold a Level 3 qualification in Welding or Fabrication.
* Ideally, you will also hold a recognised assessing qualification (such as A1 Award or equivalent) and an Internal Verification Qualification. If not currently held, you will be required to undertake and achieve the AET qualification during employment.
* You will hold a recognised Teaching or Training Qualification e.g. Award in Education and Training (AET). If not currently held, you will be required to undertake and achieve the AET qualification during employment.
You will have extensive experience in a practical welding fabrication environment, ideally with a background in training or mentoring colleagues or apprentices. The role involves demonstrating and assessing welding and fabrication tasks for various group sizes whilst maintaining safe working practices within a workshop environment.
Recent industry experience is essential, ideally with knowledge of work-based qualifications. You will support learners in achieving Level 2 and 3 Welding qualifications, assess their work, and promote literacy, numeracy, digital skills, and the Welsh language. Strong interpersonal skills, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently and in a team are essential.
For the role of Assessor, access to transport is required for frequent travel, with assessments conducted both face-to-face and remotely. Your contractual place of work will be your home and you will be paid the applicable mileage rate for business travel. You will also be provided with a mobile phone and laptop for all business communication.
For the role of Tutor, you will be based in the practical workshop environment and your place of work will be the main College campus in Merlins Bridge, Haverfordwest.
