The post holder is required to play a proactive part within the Estates maintenance team to meet Trust objectives in a safe, cost effective, efficient manner in compliance with legislation and good practice.

Main duties of the job
Main Duties
* General reactive and planned maintenance both internally and externally to the site
* Basic lighting, sockets and small power circuits repairs
* Emergency lighting testing and checks
* Passenger lift entrapment release
* Basic repairs and maintenance of ventilation systems
* Basic plumbing repairs and maintenance
* Unblocking foul water and surface water drainage systems
* Grounds & gardens maintenance including litter picking, snow clearing, gritting, grass and hedge cutting, tree maintenance, road sweeping, emptying bins, signage repairs, line marking and painting
* General building fabric maintenance such as basic painting, decorating, window repairs, flooring and joinery repairs
* Any other activity deemed appropriate for skill and competency level
* Assisting housekeeping teams undertake their duties such as removing vent grills to allow suitable cleaning etc.
* General maintenance of beds and wheelchairs

Grantham and District Hospital serves the communities of Grantham and the local area. It provides ambulatory paediatric and accident and emergency services.

United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust has been granted teaching hospital status, after demonstrating evidence to significant teaching commitment. From now on it will be known as United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust (LCHS) and United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust (ULHT) have come together in a group arrangement, with the goal of improving the care provided to patients across the county.
This will not constitute a formal merger of the two organisations, but will bring the Trusts together under a single Board and Executive Leadership Team, with the goal of improving the care that is provided to patients both in the community and in hospitals across Lincolnshire. Both Trusts will retain their separate statutory names and legal obligations.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Appropriate City and Guilds Qualification, NVQ2 or equivalent in an Engineering related discipline
* Additional hospital engineering related certified training or equivalent
* Demonstrable extensive experience of basic maintenance in a similar size organisation
Previous Experience
* Experience in the maintenance of buildings, electrical and mechanical plant and services, and grounds and gardens.
* Experience of maintenance in a hospital environment. In particular: air conditioning, refrigeration, fire alarms, building maintenance, electrical and or mechanical specific experience
* Good understanding of general regulations, and associated safety procedures
* Able to work safely and have knowledge of Health and Safety legislation in the built environment.
* Work co-operatively with colleagues
* Ability to work with minimum of guidance
* Good manual dexterity and logical, systematic approach to work tasks
* Exchanges maintenance, technical project-related information with specialists, non-specialists; negotiates with contractors or suppliers
* Be able to work within a pressured environment
