As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored support to students with a range of needs, helping them thrive academically and personally. Your role will be pivotal in fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment. Responsibilities for an SEN Teaching Assistant: Work closely with teachers to provide personalised support for students with SEN. Assist students in one-to-one and small group settings, adapting resources to meet their individual needs. Support students with a range of needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges. Promote a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued and supported. Encourage students to develop confidence, independence, and essential life skills. Monitor and report on student progress to teachers and SENCOs. Assist with the preparation of learning materials and classroom activities. SEN TA Requirements: Previous experience supporting children with SEN in an educational or care setting as a SEN Teaching Assistant is essential. A relevant qualification such as CACHE Level 2/3, NVQ Level 2/3 in Teaching Assistant or childcare A degree in Education, Psychology, or a related field is preferred. Strong understanding of various SEN conditions and strategies to support students effectively. Excellent communication skills and a patient, empathetic approach. Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents. A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
