A Brief Job Description:
TITLE: Human Resources Specialist
REPORTS TO: Director of Human Resources
HOURS: Monday – Friday; 30 hours per week
SALARY: $25 - $29 per hour
JOB SUMMARY: The Human Resources Specialist is responsible for the essential administrative tasks of the Human Resources department. The HR Specialist supports key functions such as onboarding, offboarding, leave management, payroll processing, and benefits administration to ensure smooth and efficient HR operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
1. Process bi-weekly payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance, while overseeing the Human Resource Information System (HRIS), including system module updates, employee data maintenance, and reporting.
2. Update agency bulletin boards to ensure alignment with regulatory compliance requirements.
3. Support agency training programs through administration and tracking processes.
4. Review W-2s and ACA documents for accuracy to ensure timely and compliant year-end submissions.
5. Conduct offboarding procedures, ensuring a smooth and compliant employee exit process.
6. Assist with onboarding activities, including conducting onboarding sessions, verifying employment documents, and preparing offer letters.
7. Administer employee leave programs, including FMLA, STD, LTD, and PFL.
8. Provide support to the Director of Human Resources in managing the workers' compensation process.
9. Oversee the employee benefits program, including system management, monthly invoice reconciliation, and coordination of yearly Open Enrollment.
10. Collaborate with the Director of Human Resources on audits, compliance initiatives, and recommendations for improving HR efficiency.
11. Partner with the Director of Human Resources to deliver HR-related presentations during new hire onboarding, training sessions, and employee recognition programs.
12. Exemplifies a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion work and delivering services within a trauma-informed and equitable lens.
13. Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
14. Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources.
15. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Human Resources.

Education and Experience:
* Associate’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or related field required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
* 1-3 years’ experience in human resources including payroll processing and benefits administration.
* SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred.
