We provide a specialist inpatient service for adults with mental health needs across 3 inpatient wards at the Elgar unit.
We are looking for dynamic, flexible, passionate NMC registered mental health nurses & learning disability nurses to join our teams on our 2 acute wards & psychiatric intensive care unit (PICU). This post is suitable for both newly qualified & experienced RMNs & RNLDs looking for a new challenge in a fast-paced inpatient ward.
We can offer from 23 up to 37.5 hours a week. Our working patterns are 2-4 fully rotational long days/nights (07:00-19:30/19:00-07:30) across a four-week period including weekends and bank holidays.
A fully supportive preceptorship programme is provided for newly qualified applicants as well as a welcoming induction and future career development opportunities.

Main duties of the job

Demonstrate a level of skill and understanding which enables you to undertake specific tasks delegated by the nurse/Allied Health Professional (AHP) in charge and in accordance with relevant procedures, guidelines and policies. The post holder will undertake both routine and specially identified tasks for which they have been trained and assessed as competent.

Administer medication in a safe and timely manner as prescribed, in accordance with Trust policies and training.
Measure, monitor and record observations as required e.g. TPR and BP, Oxygen saturation, peak flow, ECG, urine tests, blood glucose monitoring, fluid intake and output NEWS.
Ensure that each patient in your care receives an individual nursing assessment and is the subject of a regularly updated care plan which, wherever practicable, is formulated in conjunction with the patient.
