The post holder will be supporting the Nursing Quality Improvement and Accreditation lead nurse with the delivery of trust wide Nursing Accreditation and quality improvement initiatives. To implement, monitor and sustain effective nursing Quality improvement and change programmes across the trust and provide assurance. Plan and co-ordinate Assessment and Accreditation reviews of all nursing/midwifery clinical areas, focusing on professional standards, safety, and quality in line with national and local, Trust standards. Working across the Trust conduct audits and observations of performance against nursing KPIs. Assessing areas using highly developed specialist knowledge about Assessment and Accreditation and knowledge of clinical areas, identifying, and drawing to the attention of the Quality Assurance Lead Nurse and Associate Directors of Nursing /Midwifery, areas of good practice and areas requiring intervention. Ensure collaborative working with stakeholders to ensure the standards related to Care Quality Commissions (CQC) regulatory frameworks are met throughout the Trust and that this is supported by appropriate evidence. Inform stakeholders of key risks, issues, and performance information, addressing items that require action. To implement and manage the Nursing and quality productive programmes that provide support, training and development strategies of improvement that contribute to Accreditation Bronze Wards. Participate in setting and reviewing standards for practice and evaluating outcomes Support and lead on promoting clinical engagement in assessment and accreditation and identify and escalate as appropriate key risks relating to nursing/midwifery care delivery. Work clinically alongside registered and non-registered staff promoting and delivering evidence-based practice. Build respectful and professional links with clinical staff at all levels and contribute to and implement policies to ensure we have a highly skilled and competent workforce. Provide effective input into ensuring the NMC standards are implemented and embedded in nursing and midwifery practice through effective communication skills Leadership and Management Work closely with divisions and corporate delivery through the development of solutions that transform quality performance and culture for services, working to understand existing performance resulting in improved outcomes, experience, and safety for patients, and obtaining sustainable service delivery for the future. Regularly network with other Trusts that are pursuing or have embedded Assessment and Accreditation programmes Liaising with subject matter experts from within and outside of the Trust as one of the Trusts points of contact Provide reports and information as required and escalate non-compliance per agreed governance frameworks. Actively promote evidence-based practice within the clinical area. Convey and present information, written or verbal, formally or informally, as appropriate; produce quarterly reports for the nursing and midwifery board regarding Assessment and Accreditation activity Provide support for quality improvement initiatives as directed by the Nursing & Quality Directorate. Develop detailed work plans and lead audit initiatives where required Plans, implements and reviews the programme of inspection across N&M within the Trust Be a national voice and ambassador for Assessment and Accreditation, proactively seeking networking opportunities both nationally and internationally Produce regular and detailed highlight reports for all projects. Maintain records and the IT shared drive to demonstrate the progress of the Assessment and Accreditation Programme Actively work as a team member, contributing to initiatives that aim to improve the effectiveness of the team and organisation To act as a champion for patients and their interests To model a collaborative and influencing style of working, negotiating with others to achieve the best outcomes. Embedding this approach across the group model Ensure compliance with Trust procurement policies and procedures across the Trust. Amend and update KGH policies and procedures as required to ensure continued compliance with all integrating and accountable bodies. Analyse and report on the likely impact of proposed changes to legislation/policy. Develop and sustain productive relationships with key internal and external bodies. Represent the team and organisation at professional meetings as requested and feedback information appropriately. Ensure there is a method of communication that reaches all staff within the team, considering different working patterns. To be a visible, accessible, and assertive figure to whom staff can turn for assistance and guidance. Influence people and events through successful communication, negotiation, and persuasion skills. Motivational skills to encourage collaborative working to improve services/performance where there may be resistance to change. Facilitate learning workshops for large groups of staff Develop and use local and national networks to identify and introduce to the trust best practices in the management and care of patients. Constructively challenge practices as necessary that impact patients' care and/or staff wellbeing. Work with the senior nursing team to ensure the nursing strategy objectives are achieved. Be able to make recommendations, provide advice, and prepare strategic reports/briefings for the relevant forums.
