The successful candidate will be joining a friendly team, led by our exceptional Curriculum Team Leader for Design, who will provide the support and challenge required to help you to develop as a teacher and a leader. They will deliver disciplines across technology to students across the ability range in KS3 and KS4. The likely timetable for this post across the remainder of 2024/25 would include two-thirds food technology and one-third textiles. Our design curriculum is rooted in high expectations of all students, with a focus on providing a diverse range of rich and interesting projects which will allow students to express themselves, whilst consistently embedding the core knowledge that makes students the artists, engineers and Michelin Star chefs of the future. Our building is fantastically well apportioned; no design lessons take place outside of bespoke practical spaces, which include two large product design rooms, two catering rooms, our dark room for photography and kiln room for pottery. We believe strongly in providing a full KS3 experience to all of our young people, so the design curriculum remains broad until the end of Year 9, when students begin their KS4 options. As a result of the experience that students have in KS3, design is the most popular KS4 curriculum area, with multiple options classes running in almost every discipline. We work closely with the other Futura secondary schools to develop our shared curriculum, to share the best resources and to identify the best teaching practice and share this pedagogical knowledge between schools.
