Job Summary: We are looking for a skilled and experienced Architectural Metalwork Estimator to join our team. This role involves preparing accurate and detailed cost estimates for custom metalwork projects, including staircases, railings, facades, decorative elements, and other architectural metal components. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of metal fabrication, architectural design, and cost estimation principles.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Review architectural plans, drawings, and specifications to assess project requirements for architectural metalwork.
2. Prepare comprehensive and detailed estimates for materials, labor, and equipment costs related to custom metalwork projects.
3. Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, project managers, and clients to determine scope, design intent, and specific requirements for each project.
4. Conduct site visits and surveys to gather additional information for accurate estimation and to assess existing conditions.
5. Research and source materials, finishes, and hardware needed for each project, considering quality, cost, and availability.
6. Provide technical expertise on metalworking techniques, including welding, fabrication, finishing, and installation processes.
7. Analyze project drawings and specifications to identify potential issues, value engineering opportunities, or cost-saving alternatives.
8. Prepare bid proposals and provide recommendations for project timelines and resource allocation.
9. Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain quotes and pricing for materials and labor.
10. Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations, including fire safety, accessibility, and local building codes.
11. Monitor and update estimates as projects evolve, adjusting for changes in design, scope, or materials.
12. Maintain and update an accurate database of material costs, labor rates, and historical estimates for future reference.
13. Assist project managers in tracking budgets, timelines, and ensuring the profitability of each project.
14. Work closely with the production and installation teams to ensure estimates are aligned with project requirements and expectations.
Required Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
2. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in estimating architectural metalwork, fabrication, or a related industry.
3. Strong understanding of architectural metalwork processes, including welding, fabrication, finishes, and installation techniques.
4. Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., ProEst, Bluebeam, or similar tools).
5. Experience with construction drawings, technical specifications, and building codes.
6. Excellent mathematical and analytical skills for precise estimation and budgeting.
7. Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy in cost analysis and project tracking.
8. Ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and 3D models.
9. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with clients, design teams, and subcontractors.
10. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Certification in estimating, construction management, or related field.
2. Knowledge of advanced architectural metal finishes and innovative materials.
3. Familiarity with project management software (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend).
4. Experience working with high-end or custom architectural metal projects.
Physical Requirements:
1. Ability to conduct site visits, which may require walking, bending, and light lifting.
2. Comfortable working in both office and construction site environments.
