Role Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Hearing Help Area Lead to join our charity’s team. The Hearing Help Area Lead will play a vital role in our mission to support individuals with hearing impairment and provide them with essential services.
This position involves coordinating and delivering Hearing Aid Drop-In sessions and working closely with volunteers to ensure the smooth operation of the program.
The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for helping others, excellent organisational skills, and a deep understanding of the challenges faced by individuals with hearing loss.
Responsibilities
Coordination and Management:
* Organise and oversee the scheduling and logistics of Hearing Aid Drop-In sessions and Care Home visits ensuring efficient and effective service delivery.
* Liaise with volunteers, and other stakeholders to coordinate resources, materials, and equipment needed for each session. Co-ordinating with other Hearing Loss Champions in ordering equipment and supplies.
* Maintain accurate records of session attendance, services provided, and client information.
* Look to set up new Hearing Aid Drop-In sessions and Care Home visits by liaising with local groups/libraries to find suitable locations when appropriate.
* Perform to set Key Performance Indicators and target standards.
Client Support and Maintenance:
* Provide friendly and empathetic assistance to clients during Hearing Aid Drop-In sessions, addressing their hearing aid maintenance needs with care and professionalism.
* Conduct basic hearing aid maintenance, such as cleaning, battery replacement, and tubing or dome adjustments, adhering to proper protocols and hygiene standards.
* Offer guidance and support to clients regarding the proper use and care of their hearing aids.
* Provide support and signposting for Carers also as appropriate.
Volunteer Coordination & Recruitment:
* Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers participating in Hearing Aid Drop-In sessions, ensuring their adherence to organizational policies and procedures.
* Foster a positive and inclusive environment, nurturing a sense of teamwork and commitment among volunteers.
* Provide ongoing guidance and support to volunteers, addressing any questions or concerns that may arise.
Program Development and Outreach:
* Collaborate with the team to develop strategies for expanding the reach of our services to individuals with hearing impairment.
* Identify potential community partnerships and resources to enhance program effectiveness and raise awareness about the charity’s mission.
* Participate in relevant community events, workshops, and conferences to promote the program and establish connections with key stakeholders.
* Attend team meetings to support the sustainability of the charity and to understand the challenges that people with hearing loss face.
* Actively seek to recruit new volunteers.
Skills & Experience:
* A deep empathy and understanding of the challenges faced by individuals with hearing loss.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact compassionately and effectively with clients, volunteers, and technicians.
* Strong organizational and time management abilities, with the capacity to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
* Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping and documentation.
* Experience in coordinating or managing community-based programs is preferred.
* Knowledge of hearing aid maintenance and basic troubleshooting is desirable.
* Ability to work collaboratively within a team and independently with minimal supervision.
* Flexibility to adapt to changing needs and circumstances.
