Role: Homeless Prevention Officer
Contract Duration: Temporary 6 months
Hours: Monday - Friday (9-5)
Pay Rate: £25 per hour
Hybrid working: 3 days in office in Borehamwood, 2 days from home
Tate are working with a local authority in their search for a dedicated and knowledgeable individual to join their team as a Homelessness Prevention Officer. This role involves a mix of administrative tasks and direct interaction with individuals seeking assistance.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide advice to homeless individuals based on current homelessness legislation.
* Serve as the first point of contact for applicants, conducting initial assessments to determine if the council owes a duty to them.
* Close cases where no duty is owed and follow up on necessary documents for cases where duty is owed.
* Monitor and triage a busy inbox, managing two separate inboxes for agency referrals and general enquiries.
* Allocate documents to the correct cases and distribute enquiries appropriately.
* Work with various services including Health & Social Services and the Police.
* Handle interactions with vulnerable individuals with care and sensitivity.
Requirements:
* Strong knowledge of homelessness legislation and how to assess homelessness.
* Strong administrative skills and the ability to manage a busy inbox.
* Experience in dealing with vulnerable people and various service agencies.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
