At Switch Up we provide individual, life-changing support to young people in communities affected by crime and violence We do this through sport, mentoring and personal development, with the aim of improving mental and physical wellbeing to give our young people the skills, confidence and motivation to realise their true potential. We engage young people through our boxing gym and other sport, providing mentoring, counselling, education and personal development to develop ‘champions in and out of the ring’. This is an exciting time for Switch Up and as a growing organisation, we are looking for upbeat, passionate and committed individuals who share our values. As our Senior Education Tutors you will be responsible for the provision of high-quality, safe and inclusive education delivery through our alternative education provision. You will work with young people of school age and post 16, educating them on a one to one and group basis. The young people we work with have special educational needs and have struggled in mainstream education for various reasons, some will have been excluded and have little hope of returning and need our support in order to achieve a basic education. You will have strong, proven tutoring skills, having taught in schools or other educational environments and the experience, drive and enthusiasm to work with some of the hardest to reach young people. You will be flexible, motivated and resilient, able to handle challenging situations and have the ability to make education fun. Our targeted youth mentoring team provide support alongside our alternative education provision, and there will be a requirement for you to step in with some mentoring support too. This role will be pro rata to term time only, however this could be negotiated if the successful candidate has transferable skills. You would be based in Nottingham City or Mansfield depending on where you live, and would be required to travel between sites.
