JOB SUMMARY
This job description outlines the main duties of the post. The postholder will be required to undertake other duties commensurate with the grade as directed. The content of this post will be reviewed in consultation with the postholder when necessary and in line with service developments. The postholder will provide specialist clinical psychology skills within a multidisciplinary team.
The postholder will provide a high-quality clinical service to users. They will provide highly specialist psychological assessment and intervention while working collaboratively with non-psychologist colleagues, professionals from other agencies, and carers. They will be clinically responsible to a senior clinical psychologist, with clinical oversight held by the clinical lead in the service.
KEY RESULT AREAS:
1. Offer consultation, supervision, and training when required by other agencies involved in the psychological, emotional, and behavioral well-being of referred individuals.
2. Provide consultation, assessment, and intervention in the service.
3. Work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary context.
4. Provide assessment and treatment options for individuals experiencing moderate, severe, and complex mental health problems.
5. Exercise expert clinical judgment based on the highest standards of evidence-based practice.
6. Seek to expand and consolidate clinical skills using training, experience, and supervision.
7. Be proficient in the use of psychometric testing appropriate to the age range.
8. Provide specialist risk assessment and intervention for individuals presenting to the service.
9. Follow appropriate Adult and Child Protection guidelines in all clinical work, including close liaison with all agencies.
10. Liaise and consult with the wider professional network in the care of clients.
11. Work jointly with team members to deliver the most appropriate clinical service to individuals and their families.
12. Exercise autonomous professional responsibility for assessment, treatment, and discharge of clients.
13. Communicate sensitively concerning assessment, formulation, and treatment plans of clients, effectively evaluating progress.
14. Receive regular professional supervision from a senior Clinical Psychologist and other senior clinicians as appropriate.
15. Access continuing professional development opportunities in line with agreed targets and personal development plans.
16. Assist in the supervision of Doctoral level Clinical Psychology trainees and trainees from other disciplines as appropriate.
17. Contribute to the pre and post qualification teaching of Clinical Psychologists.
18. Assist in the teaching and training of professionals.
19. Contribute to audit processes within the service.
20. Contribute to research in the service area.
21. Utilize theory, evidence-based literature, and research to support evidence-based practice of self and others.
22. Provide advice on research projects to other staff within the service around appropriate methodology and statistical analysis.
23. Undertake project management as required to aid service development.
24. Contribute to the development and maintenance of the highest professional standards of practice through active participation in training and development programmes.
25. Maintain membership of appropriate regulatory bodies (e.g., The Health & Care Professionals Council) and professional bodies such as the British Psychological Society.
26. Contribute to the development and articulation of best practice in psychology across the service.
27. Maintain the highest standards of clinical record keeping, including electronic data entry, report writing, and professional self-governance.
28. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation, national and local policies, and issues related to the clients served by the service.
29. Work flexibly both in terms of base and hours of clinical availability.
