Significant teaching experience, preferably within a SEN setting. Proven leadership experience, such as a previous role as a department head or senior teacher. Postgraduate qualifications in education, SEN, or leadership are highly desirable. Skills and Competencies : Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate staff and students. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building strong relationships with students, staff, parents, and external agencies. Expertise in pastoral care and student wellbeing, with a thorough understanding of the challenges faced by students with SEN. Proficiency in developing and implementing individualized learning plans and support strategies. Pastoral and Nurture Specialization : Deep understanding of pastoral care principles and the ability to create a nurturing environment that promotes student wellbeing. Experience in developing and leading nurture programs aimed at supporting students' social and emotional development. Ability to work collaboratively with the pastoral and nurture team to identify and address the individual needs of students. Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to respond to and manage challenging behaviour effectively and empathetically. Strategic and Operational Responsibilities : Assist the Head Teacher in the strategic planning and day-to-day management of the academy. Lead the development and implementation of policies related to pastoral care, wellbeing, and SEN support. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of pastoral and nurture programs, using data and feedback to drive continuous improvement. Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and best practice guidelines.
