The Forensic Information Databases Service (FINDS) administers national systems that identifies links between forensic evidence found at scenes of crime and arrestees (and on occasion other individuals such as vulnerable persons and missing persons), ultimately ensuring the integrity of records held on multiple national forensic databases (National DNA Database (NDNAD), IDENT1 (fingerprints) and National Footwear Database).
The Data Reconciliation Analyst provides operational support to Police Forces and key NDNAD stakeholders by researching and actioning essential updates on the NDNAD and Police National Computer (PNC) systems, investigates and monitors occurrences of data anomaly and makes recommendations for corrective and improvement actions; these responsibilities help to ensure the quality and integrity of the data held on both national systems.
The ideal person will have a good understanding of PNC and Protection of Freedoms Act, be able to work unsupervised and be able to manage their own workload. Accuracy and attention to detail are important to fulfil this role alongside flexibility and being able to utilise different sources to complete the role.
The role holder will work in a small team that sits within FINDS Operations focusing on identifying and resolving data discrepancies on both NDNAD and PNC. Maintaining and supporting stakeholder engagements with Forces and being the central point of contact for queries relating to biometric retention. The team will play a crucial role with the transition from the Police National Computer (PNC) to the Law Enforcement Data Service (LEDS) system ( UAT Testing).
The current building location for this role is Solihull Sandford House.
Key Responsibilities:
* Database use – Interrogate PNC and/or NDNAD to produce research files on possible data inaccuracies for investigation
* Investigation – Research and prepare reports on data inaccuracies and include recommendation /decisions for corrective actions required to ensure quality and integrity of data held on PNC and NDNAD systems.
* Corrective Action – To carry out the necessary amendments to NDNAD and PNC to rectify data and to ensure DNA subject profiles load correctly to the NDNAD.
* Liaise with Key Stakeholders – Request fingerprint comparisons, copies of photographs, liaise with Police Officers and/or Support staff to research NDNAD/PNC anomalies.
* Report results and make Recommendations – Report to Police Services on the result of investigations carried out and make recommendations to resolve anomalies e.g. false identities, identical twins/triplets, DNA administration errors and other intelligence related matters.
* Management Information – Research information requested for Parliamentary and Freedom of Information Act enquiries.
* Advise Key Stakeholders – Provide advice to staff in Forces and outside agencies on PNC and NDNAD related matters (including the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012 (PoFA).

Due to the business requirements of this role, it is only available on a full-time basis. However, compressed hours are available .
