Joseph Ash Galvanzing Bilton is looking for a Production Planner. Responsible for planning, coordinating, and optimizing the production schedule and internal logistical operations. Ensuring that customer orders are completed efficiently and available on time - balancing production demand, resource management, and internal logistics to meet customer expectations and maintain operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities Production Planning: Develop and maintain production schedules that optimize resources, meet customer deadlines, and ensure efficient use of equipment and manpower. Coordinate with the sales and logistic team to prioritize customer orders, ensuring that urgent or high-value jobs are handled accordingly whilst maintaining high OTIF results. Monitor production capacity and adjust the schedule based on resource availability, such as manpower, equipment, and material supply. Communicate daily production schedules and targets, working with the production leadership team, ensuring everyone is aligned on priorities. Logistics Coordination: Plan and manage internal logistics operations, to ensure dispatch and delivery of finished goods to customers can be made on time. Work closely with internal teams, to ensure timely organisation for incoming and outgoing deliveries. Ensure all internal transport logistics are in place to meet delivery deadlines. Communication & Collaboration: Work closely with production and sales and to ensure alignment on order fulfilment, production schedules, and logistics operations. Act as the point of contact for Sales regarding product availability to plan, production updates. Liaise with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery of raw materials and resolve any supply chain issues that may impact production. Data Management & Reporting: Monitor and track production data, including output rates, downtime, and job completion times. Provide regular reports to the management team on production and logistic performance and efficiency. Team leadership Provide daily leadership to a small logistics team, monitoring performance and providing coaching to support development of a high performing team. Process Improvement & Problem Solving: Continually assess production and logistics processes to identify inefficiencies and areas for improvement, including potential cost-saving initiatives. Address production or logistics issues as they arise, proactively resolving bottlenecks and minimizing disruptions to operations. Health, Safety, and Compliance: Ensure that production and logistics activities comply with company systems, including health and safety standards, environmental regulations, and industry best practices. Work with the operations team to identify and mitigate risks related to production scheduling and customer product availability. Person Specification Proven experience in production planning, logistics coordination, or supply chain management within a manufacturing or industrial environment. Strong understanding of production scheduling, capacity planning, and inventory management. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; experience with production planning software or ERP systems is a plus.
