Children's Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist
We have an exciting opportunity for a Children's Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist to join our well-established and friendly team at Cotswold Chine School, following a trauma-informed approach based in Gloucestershire. The role will involve delivering specialist Occupational Therapy assessments, interventions, and evaluation with reference to evidence-informed practice. The role will also involve line management skills including conducting clinical supervisions, preceptorship programs, and appraisals with identified Occupational Therapists. Additionally, it includes completing analysis and auditing of therapy progress and outcomes for the children and confidently sharing this within professional meetings. A strong focus will be on implementing sensory regulation strategies while working within a trauma-informed and attachment-focused model of approach.
There is an established clinical therapy team at Novalis Trust, which consists of Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Drama Therapists, Social Workers, and Psychotherapists. Regular clinical and therapy team meetings are held to discuss, share, and track progress within individual therapies and document outcomes of therapeutic interventions. This post will provide opportunities to develop your professional skills while being supported through working in an established team of experienced therapists.
Main Duties of the Job
It is essential that you are able to work within a team and can evidence your excellent communication skills with the ability to autonomously manage your own caseload. The candidate must demonstrate experience as a qualified Occupational Therapist and showcase ways in which they have mentored or coached others to support their professional development. You must also provide evidence of core Occupational Therapy skills and be registered with the Health Care Professions Council.
There is a strong emphasis on continuing professional development and regular opportunities for clinical supervision with experienced clinicians at the trust. The trust offers additional training in trauma-informed care, family work, and postgraduate training in Sensory Integration. Key Responsibilities for this Role:

Job Responsibilities
* Work autonomously as an Occupational Therapist, managing your own caseload and providing Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions for children and residents as required, including prioritizing needs and completing administration tasks.
* Follow the Occupational Therapy process, delivering standardized and non-standardized assessments, interventions, and evaluations with children and residents.
* Advise on specialist equipment and domestic and workplace environmental alterations.
* Write records and reports, ensuring that the database is kept up to date in a timely manner.
* Assist and support the therapy provision throughout the Trust as required by the Head of Clinical and Therapy.
* Communicate as required with professional networks.
* Attend Clinical and Therapy meetings and other multidisciplinary team meetings as directed by the Head of Clinical and Therapy.
* Attend meetings with the therapy department to discuss wider therapy issues as required.
* Attend professional meetings as directed by the Head of Clinical and Therapy and confidently share the children's therapy progress and outcomes.
* Hold line management of identified occupational therapy staff, conducting supervisions, preceptorship plans, appraisals, and all other line-management responsibilities.
* Oversee the skill set process to identify and monitor key areas of progress and development for children and assist with the goal-setting process across the care and therapy departments.
* Supervise Occupational Therapy students during their placement at the trust and monitor progress and feedback from student placement experiences to support review processes within the trust and wider professionals.
