East Suffolk & North Essex NHS Foundation Trust have an exciting opportunity for a Specialist Biomedical Scientist to join us in Haematology & Blood Transfusion at Ipswich Hospital.

You will join a friendly and busy MHRA and UKAS compliant hospital laboratory who are committed to the training and development of our staff. We are IBMS accredited training laboratory for registration and specialist portfolios.
You must have completed your haematology specialist portfolio. Once competent, experienced staff will participate in the out of hours roster which attracts a night rate enhancement for lone working.
We are equipped with Grifols, Sysmex XNs and ACL TOPS analysers. Our LIMS is Lab Centre. Previous working knowledge of these technologies would be an advantage.

Specialist Biomedical Scientist Job Information
Our pathology department is part of the collaborative East Coast Pathology Network (see attached document)
You will enjoy a varied range of responsibilities from maintaining the quality management system and UKAS accreditation, training and supervision of less experienced members of staff, validating and authorising results and most importantly providing a safe quality service for our patients.
You will be expected to resolve complex equipment or process problems and perform manual, semi-automated and fully automated laboratory investigations, including specialist investigations, within defined service area accurately and efficiently.
You will participate in the day to day management of stock control and usage. This may include maintaining Blood Transfusion stock levels and records and monitor usage to ensure efficient use where appropriate.
